Cummins Inc. announced that it has once again achieved record-breaking performance in the third quarter of 2007. Three of the four business divisions have set a new quarterly sales record. In 2007, Cummins is expected to be the best year in Cummins history.
Cummins achieved sales of 3.37 billion U.S. dollars in the third quarter, up 20% from 2.81 billion U.S. dollars in the same period of last year, and once again set a quarterly record for the second quarter of this year. Cummins successfully suppressed some of the unfavorable factors such as the sluggish sales of mainframe plants and the high costs derived from meeting the new generation of emission standard products.
The main highlights of Cummins in the third quarter are: Cummins’s market share has been steadily rising in the generally depressed North American heavy-duty market. This fully confirms the customers' trust in Cummins' products that meet new environmental protection requirements; the ISX 15L and ISM11L series. The engine won the highest award of JDPower's North American special vehicle "Customer Satisfaction Survey"; it was selected as one of the "Top 20 Most Leading Companies in North America" in 2007; it has been on the Dow Jones Global Sustainable Development Index for three consecutive years.
