Najib said at the press conference held in Kuala Lumpur that morning: “Today, after the disappearance of the passenger plane 515 days, with a heavy heart, I must tell you that an international team of experts has confirmed that the aircraft was found on Reunion Island. Indeed from Flight MH370.†Najib said that the current evidence shows that “the flight of the MH370 flight was tragically ended in the South Indian Oceanâ€.
Najib said that the Malaysian government promised to make every effort to find out the truth of the matter.
MAS issued a statement saying that the French government, the French Civil Aviation Safety Survey and Analysis Bureau, the Malaysian investigation team and technical representatives from China and Australia jointly confirmed in Toulouse, France that the ailerons found on French Reunion Island came from the MH370 passenger plane.
The statement said: "This is indeed a major breakthrough for us to solve the mystery of the disappearance of MH370. We expect and hope to find more items in order to solve this mystery."
On March 8, 2014, the passenger flight of the Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Beijing, China was missing and there were 239 people on board. On January 29 this year, the Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority announced that the flight of the MH370 flight had crashed and assumed that all personnel on board were killed.
