1 Introduction
The Lonex plant is located on the southern slope of the Harland Valley on the edge of the mainland plateau in British Columbia, Canada, 80km south of Camlops and 48km southeast of Ashcroft.
The mine since 1964 found that in June 1972, after the daily processing ore dressing plant 48kt production, processing plant after the renovation and expansion, at present, is Canada's largest copper - molybdenum ore dressing plant.
1982, Luonaikesi processed raw ore dressing plant 30.7Mt, to produce copper concentrate of 88kt (copper metal), molybdenum concentrate is 2879t (amount of molybdenum metal) and silver 20951kg.
2. Deposits, ores and mining
The Rockex deposit is a porphyry-impregnated copper-molybdenum deposit with a uniform block structure. Minerals fill the veins along the fracture surface to form a uniform distribution of sulfide. The ore body is approximately 610m deep in an elliptical area approximately 1220m long and 488m wide.
Most of the copper minerals in the ore are chalcopyrite and porphyrite. There are very small amounts of pyrite. Molybdenite is a useful associated mineral. There is an oxidized zone in the upper part of the ore body, which varies in thickness and contains malachite and a small amount of chalcopyrite, azurite, copper blue, cuprite and natural copper.
The mine was put into operation in 1972, open-pit mining, and automobile transportation. It is the largest non-ferrous metal mine in Canada to date. After 1976, the daily mining volume was 150 kt/d, of which the ore was 48 kt/d.
3. Mineral processing technology
The crushing-grinding process uses a section of open-circuit coarse crushing, two-stage closed-circuit grinding (rough grinding using a semi- autogenous mill , fine grinding using a ball mill ), as shown in Figure 1. The coarse crushing equipment is two 1.5×2.3m Avery-Chames (hereinafter referred to as AC) type gyratory crushers with a discharge size of -229mm. The rough grinding equipment is 2 sets of ¢ 9.7×4.7mD.EW type semi-autogenous grinding machine, and 1 set of ¢10.4×4.9mD.EW type semi-autogenous grinding machine. Each self-grinding and two 2440 × 3050mm double-layer vibrating screens are closed. The fine grinding is matched by a 2 billiard mill and a semi-self-grinding machine. A total of 4 sets of × 5.0 × 7.0m, 2 sets of ¢ 5.0 × 8.2m ball mill. The ball mill is closed with a ¢762mm cyclone. The final product concentration of grinding is 38%, and the fineness is 70%-100 mesh.
The copper-molybdenum mixed float is selected from one rough selection, one sweep selection, and two selection processes. The output of mixed concentrate is 513t/d, containing 32.13% copper and 1.00% molybdenum. The copper-molybdenum mixed concentrate is a coarse-grained, one-sweep two-stage re-grinding and eight-selected copper-molybdenum sorting process, as shown in Figure 2.

The two-stage re-grinding operation was closed with a 1.5×3.0 m ball mill and a D6B cyclone.
After flotation, the final concentrate was filtered and then leached with a ferric chloride solution (50 g/L) at 110 ° C to remove copper impurities. After leaching, it was filtered with a 1200 mm Perriti filter press, and a ferric chloride was recirculated using a 1.5 x 2.4 m displacement sedimentation tank lined with chlorine rubber.

5, mineral processing indicators
The ore grade is 0.427% Cu, 0.017% Mo, the grinding fineness is 70%-100 mesh, and the treatment capacity is 48 kt/d. Copper concentrate grade 34% Cu, copper recovery rate 87%~90%, yield 88kt/a (Cu), flotation molybdenum concentrate grade 53.60% Mo, 1.24% Cu, molybdenum recovery rate 70%~75%, yield 2879t /a(Mo). After 1982, the FeCl 3 leaching process was added, and the copper was reduced to 0.3% or less.
